The Metro (Underground)

Below is a map of the Skytrain and Metro (underground) which also shows where the interchange stations are. I have listed a few sights that are located close by some of the stations, although this list is not exhaustive!

Skytrain and Underground map

Hua Lampong - The final station is located next to the main railway station into Bangkok. Take exit 2 directly into the station. Also Wat Hua Lampong is quite close by.

Sam Yan - The famous Snake Farm is signposted out of exit 2 and gives demonstrations of how to handle and milk venom from snakes.

Silom - Interchange with Sala Daeng skytrain station. A short walk takes you onto Silom Road and lots of shopping centres and restaurants.

This station is opposite Lumpini Park, Suan Lum Night Bazaar and not far from the Lumpini Boxing stadium.

Khlong Toei - This area is possibly only famous for its expansive slums and markets

Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre - Take Exit 3 for direct access into the convention centre which houses regular holiday fairs and much more.

Sukhumvit - Interchange with Asok skytrain station. This is mainly a shopping area, including the huge Robinson store.

Phetchaburi - No real sights of interest, mainly a commercial area

Phra Ram 9 - As above

Thailand Cultural Centre - As the name suggests, the Thailand Cultural Centre is a short distance away, along with more shopping centres.

Huai Khwang - Mainly hotels and shopping.

Sutthisan - Not much of interest, again a mainly commercial area.

Ratchadapisek - A mainly residential and commercial area.

Lat Phrao - Famous only for a horrendous road junction!

Phahon Yothin - Exit 3 takes you into another Central Department Store.

Chatuchak Park - Interchange with Mo Chit skytrain station. Also it's just a short walk into the attractive Chatuchak Park and a little further to the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Should trains be your thing, there is a Railway musuem a bit further afield.

Kamphaeng Phet - This station is actually closer to the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Over the road is Or Tor Kor fruit and vegetable market.

Bang Sue - Terminus, links into Bang Sue railway station.
