Singapore

Singapore, the city state is where East meets West. It has a more multi-racial feel than Hong Kong due to having significant populations of Chinese, Indian, Malay and Caucasian people. The city itself is an ecclectic mix of Western style shopping malls and hotels (mainly centred around the Orchard Road commercial area), restaurants, apartment blocks and many different ethnic areas such as the Arab Quarter, Little India and Chinatown. Singapore is an immaculately clean place and well ordered. Singapore is probably best visited as a stop over for a few days only, it is small and there isn't a lot to do for the tourist, unless you love shopping! If you like history a visit to Fort Canning park is worthwhile. Singapore's history as a British colony and army base during the war is documented here.
