Prachuap Khiri Khan is still a very quiet place to visit but is being touted as one of the up and coming destinations in Thailand. It is a bit further south than the more popular destinations of Hua Hin and Cha-am, so most tourists don't make it this far. The beach here is very quiet, but still has a good selection of resorts and restaurants. You do need access to transport to do anything that involves getting away from the beach as the area is rather isolated.
There is a modern temple on a hill at the head of the beach which gives impressive views back over the bay. Koh Samui this is not, if you're after a nice quiet beach getaway, this might be the place for you.
