Laos

Laos, although not geographically small has a very small population, little over 5 million. It shares borders with Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and China and is fed by the Mekong river. This is allegedly the most bombed country in the world and has suffered at the hands of war. It was also a French colony. French colonial architecture is still visible. Laos is one of the most undeveloped countries in Asia but it does offer a glimpse into the past, along with natural beauty. I only managed to visit the capital city Vientiane. Also worth a visit is the World Heritage site of Luang Prabang, but my photos here are only of Vientiane. The main sights are Vat That Luang (Golden Temple), Patuxay (Victory Monument and Laos' answer to L'Arc de Triomphe) and several smaller temples and markets.
